You Should Want More for Christmas

I am a grown up who still makes birthday and Christmas lists.

I'd like to tell you it's because I'm so thoughtful and I want to help my loved ones save time--that I don't want to be one of those people who's "SO HARD TO SHOP FOR."

But the truth is...I just like getting stuff. I really do.

It's not that I'm incredibly materialistic. Just ask my family, I can't bring myself to buy new socks when I need them! The thrill I get from a gift is when, upon opening something, I'm immediately flooded with the thought that someone, sometime before this moment, thought about me enough to browse-and-buy or run an errand or wrap a package or write a card. That act of service speaks one of my top love languages.

Whether you aren't much for gift exchanges or you still can't sleep the night before a Hanukkah or Christmas gift frenzy, I think you should want...more. I think you should get a little greedy.

I think you should get a little greedy.

This might not sound like a very noble pursuit, but much of my work centers around the concept that the greatest regrets and disappointments in life don't come from not getting what's on a wish list, but it comes from not wanting enough for yourself.

I will post every day leading up to Christmas (though I'm writing so people tracking a different tradition this month might also get a lot out of this content).

My goal? You will want (and get) more this year in just 4 minutes a day.

  • You can set a reminder to check back every day.

  • You can also be reminded on my Instagram or LinkedIn feeds.

  • Better yet! Subscribe to my blog to get it in your email automatically.
